TIPE subscriber, Huff 'N' Puff, based in Hertfordshire, has reported a definite increase in requests for PIPA tested units for schools. Huff 'N' Puff owner Steve Barlow, told Inflated News Play & Attractions " we have 42 school jobs booked in this season and evry one, without fail, has asked if our units are PIPA tested. This is the first time this has happened and leads me to believe thatHertfordshire schools have been instructed to only use PIPA compliant equipment. Fortunately all of our equipment is PIPA compliant. I was also interested to note that I was asked by one school if I was a member of TIPE or the BIHA. I explained the difference between the two and why I chose TIPE over BIHA. In my opinion there is no comparison."
The new PIPA secretariat apears to be working extremely well in raising awareness of the PIPA scheme and why Hirees should only book PIPA compliant units.
Many bouncy castle manufacturers now produce BS EN 14960:2006 compliant units which means they will be PIPA compliant. Bouncy castle hire companies would well be advised to ensure that all units they purchase are PIPA compliant even if they do not have a PIPA tag at the time of purchase. This would enable them to get their units PIPA tagged at a later date without having the additional cost of modification.
Editor of Inflated News Play and Attractions, Peter Grand, said "I'm always concerned when I see bouncy castle hire companies spending their hard earned cash on bouncy castles that are sub standard and not manufactured to BS EN 14960:2006. There is little doubt that awareness of the PIPA scheme is on the increase and I would guess that within 5 years or so there will be very few schools etc that will not request PIPA tagged units. The big selling point for PIPA is that it is easily recognisable and checkable by end users. Those choosing not to purchase PIPA compliant units may well find themselves having to spend money modifying non compliant bouncy castles and slides to keep working"
