Tester Sentenced For Breaches of HSE Regulations

Peter Morrell has been sentenced today after being found guilty of breaching HSE regulations. The Judge imposed a one year suspended sentence on one count and a two year suspended sentence on the other two charges.

In a statement today HSE issued a warning to all inspectors of inflatable play equipment (bouncy castles and the like) that 'they must conduct comprehensive safety checks or face prosecution'

In a landmark case HSE referred to BSEN and said 'This standard is not law but following it would be sufficient to demonstrate compliance with the law'. The statement makes further reference to ADIPS and PIPA. The full statement can be read here

This statement shows all bouncy castle operators, bouncy castle testers and owners of inflatable play equipment why an annual test is required and the level at which HSE find it acceptable. All bouncy castle hire companies, bouncy castle testers and those involved with inflatable play equipment should take time to read this statement carefully.
